've been following developments across the pond in montreal with great interest, touched off by the announcement that mayor grald tremblay and his team are busy drafting a language policy that would be more faire to english residents. meanwhile, a south shore colleague of mine bowled me over with tales of rampant bilingualism throughout st-lambert and greenfield park. whoa, nelly i was speechless. this was a lot of news to absorb, some of which conflicted with my basic concept of the world. who'd have thunk that the south shore, which i long considered to be on par with laval in terms of signs and services for nonfrancophones or, more succinctly, lack thereof would be a hotbed of bilingualism, the language of shakespeare getting up close and personal with that of molire? this acquaintance had me almost drooling at times during their play-by-play of the municipal council meetings in greenfield park, described as bilingual down to the minutest detail: "l'ordre du jour the agenda." this was not just put on for a special occasion either they do this each and every time they meet. and last year, our south shore brethren in these two towns actually got their municipal tax bills in both official languages, something that a number of montreal boroughs are discussing implementing as well. now, my chomedey news compatriots assure me that here in laval, municipal council meetings unfold in french, although posing a question in english during the question period is tolerated. in terms of services the city offers, from city published flyers and bulletins to their website, there has been a marked effort of late to try to produce more bilingual material although it did take almost a decade to get there. there are still in-roads to be made in terms of a bilingual community calendar, cultural activities, libraries, press releases especially in the domain of health alerts ; and other areas. for every one document or publication that is available in english, rest assured that there's another one awaiting translation or `under construction.' i would imagine by now that it's obvious where i'm going with this, so pardon my anticlimax but i've just got to ask: what exactly does the burgeoning numbers seeking english services in laval need to do to warrant this kind of treatment? bilingual meetings and communiqus from the city would be off-the-scale wonderful as far as this journalist is concerned and probably a few of my colleagues ; , but i think residents of the city at large would probably appreciate some bilingual documentation and services a lot more. bottom line, seeing other communities get these perks made me feel rather envious, as a tax paying citizen living and working in laval. if it can be done elsewhere, then it's obviously possible to put into practice here. perhaps while the two megacities to the south ponder new language charters, our own civil servants could sharpen their pencils and do the same? even if it meant bilingual correspondence and tax bills in certain areas, like chomedey or ste-dorothe, i think the extra costs in terms of translation and stationery would be entirely worth it. look at all the francophone families fighting for access to english schools and services for their children evidently we could all collectively benefit from more diverse services. more importantly, it would give a chance for the vaillancourt administration to show its respect and support for the melting pot of communities that have helped build present-day laval into the thriving metropolis it is today. while these upstanding citizens may not have been the very first "patriotes" on the shores of le jsus, what matters is that these diverse nationalities live and work here now. hopefully the city of laval will decide to give them the choice certainly the city will fare better with a more inclusive than exclusive language charter. caroline gardner let us know and the city know your opinion on the matter by sending your letters to caroline chomedeynews , by fax to 450-687-6330 or mail to 657 cur-labelle, laval pq, h7v 2t8. letters will be published, if space allows, in the following issue.

The maurice morin memorial father's day trail ride was held june 20 on the recently opened welland canal east side trail. the annual poker games to play run was a tribute to long time timber-line member maurice morin who passed away earlier this year. the ride featured a 35-kilometer loop, all off-road, with 5 checkpoints. featured as an educational day, the event benefited from the support of both the regional municipality of niagara and the niagara regional police. they waived the usual green plate and individual insurance requirements so that more riders could participate in this unique event. awareness of responsible riding, off road vehicle orv ; regulations, noise issues, and trail etiquette for users of the east side trail were emphasized throughout the day. the host club, the niagara timber-line riders, in conjunction with the canadian motorcycle association, put up the million day insurance for the trail ride. maurice morin, a dedicated husband and father, would have been proud to see so many families enjoying a safe and fun day on their off-road motorcycles. for more information on off-road motorcycling: oftr and play three card poker.
In this section we shall provide formal definitions for graphical games, along with other needed definitions, terminology, and notation. we begin with notions standard to classical multiplayer game theory. a multiplayer game consists of n players, each with a finite set of pure strategies or actions available to them, along with a specification of the payoffs to each player. throughout the chapter, we use ai to denote the action chosen by player i. for simplicity we will assume a binary action space, so ai . the generalization of the results examined here to the multiaction setting is straightforward. ; the payoffs to player i are given by a table or matrix mi , indexed by the joint action a n . the value mi a ; , which we assume without loss of generality to lie in the interval [0, 1], is the payoff to player i resulting from the joint action a. multiplayer games described in this way are referred to as normal form games.
