Through. so that was very intriguing, and then of course there was the issue of what effect mental illness in a parent, especially in a mother, would have on a child. what is the prognosis for sally? is she going to have a happy life? i see sally as living a successful life as an actress and perhaps later as a playwright. shes young and beautiful, and that will of course help her acting career, but i dont necessarily see her with a satisfactory family life. no matter how hard she tries, or how much therapy she has, i think there will always be something from her childhood, from the mythology and superstition that surrounded mental illness, that she will carry with her. i think in some ways she will always blame herself for not being able to cure her mother. i dont know whether she will suffer from the same depression as her mother, but i dont see her going through tons of therapy. sally is a doer, and she will always be writing or acting; that part of her life will be very successful. theres a distinct shift in mood from the cape ann to the empress of one, which is a little more somber and melancholy.
